Hello there! Protea Clinic started as a dream many years ago with the vision of providing mental health services to indivduals seeking healing and respite from trauma and attachment wounds throughout life. Protea Clinic has evolved to specific advocate and provide services to LGBTQIA+ individuals, specifically transgender and nonbinary folks. We all deserve support, help, and skills to develop a meaningful existence and healthy connections in our lives.
I am the founder and owner of Protea Clinic, and I am so excited to begin this journey of providing specialized care to the LGBTQIA+ community in Utah. I have over 8+ years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in trauma, attachment, and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy. I am certified in EMDR, and trained in various modalities including IFS, DBT, ACT, etc. I believe that mental health needs to be affordable, accessible, and accommodating for all indivduals. My sessions are typically client centered, and I try to meet the client where they are at and to build skills from there.
In my spare time I can be found caring for my many, many plants, snuggling with my adorable cats, or reading the day away. As an adoptee, trauma survivor, and participating in therapy myself, I have tried to create a space that is supportive, educational, and accepting of all.
Hi, my name is Alicia and I am so excited to work with you! My background in social work has allowed me to work with many populations, meet incredible individuals, and provide a path to a career that I enjoy. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah and my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver’s online program. Social work is my passion, I love individualized work, and face-to-face interactions.
I have previously worked with a transitional living program for youth experiencing homelessness, which allowed me the opportunity to work directly with lived experts and learn from their inspiring stories and experiences through Trauma Informed Care, as well as working with families, couples, and individual talk therapy. I would love to continue working with the youth population, individual talk therapy, families, and couples.
I am open to working with someone who is ready to optimize their strengths and grow in their paths to lead the way to their best future with their mental health. I would love to be a co-investigator in an individual’s journey on discovering what works best for them and their livelihood. I thrive to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves, guide those who need assistance, and allow individuals to voice their needs in an open, safe, and reliable environment.
Each day, I aim to learn and allow space for feedback in order to grow and be a better version of myself, though some days are trickier than others, the effort is always there. I love iPhone games, cheesy rom-coms, re-watching sitcoms, and taking as many naps as I can fit in a day.
